“My Aunt Jo inspired me growing up to develop my love and passion for country music," says Aly. Aly’s love and appreciation for music is not limited to country - she counts among her influences a variety of singers such as Martina McBride, Pam Tillis, Leanne Rimes, Patty Loveless, as well as Patsy Cline, Connie Frances, Etta James, Rosemary Clooney and Christina Aguilera. Not to mention great bands like Journey, Poison, Eagles, and Goo Goo Dolls. "I have done what all other aspiring songwriters and singers do: I played for tips on Broadway, worked in the studio, and struggled to make ends meet,” says Aly. “It was through those jobs that I met talented and amazing songwriters that I have learned from and written with, such as: Bobby Braddock - He Stopped Loving Her Today; Time Marches On; I Wanna Talk About Me; Paul Overstreet - When You Say Nothing At All; She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy; Forever and Ever Amen; Leslie Satcher - When God Fearing Women Get The Blues; For These Times; Casey Beathard - No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem; One Hot Mama; Don’t Blink; and Kenny Beard - Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly; If the World Had a Front Porch.”
Amie Pollard, program director and morning show host at 95.5 WTVY-FM in Dothan, Alabama says of Aly: “To put Aly’s talent into words would not begin to give her justice. I can only say I was blown away! Her music slices right into your soul!" Pollard exclaims. "Her personality shines. Aly is beautiful and sophisticated. She is charming with her innocent humor. I have played several of Aly’s songs on my show and our phones explode every time!"
In 2007 Aly signed an exclusive publishing agreement with Melrose Music Publishing. “Getting signed as a professional songwriter has been my biggest professional achievement so far. There is so much competition; it’s hard to be a paid songwriter. And that’s not all of it – you’ve still got to get cuts and write songs,” confesses Aly. “I love the fact that I can get up every day and be creative with my job. I either get to be with great friends that I know extremely well, or I get to meet talented new people and come up with wonderful lyrics that I would not have been able to create alone. I want to write songs that inspire people and give them comfort. I want to create that kind of music. I feel so blessed with the freedom to be innovative daily and do what I love for a living,” says a grateful Aly.
Aly has found what most people struggle forever to find - doing what she feels she is meant to do with her life. She knows how blessed she is to be working at a job and in an industry that she loves. “When I am singing, playing my guitar, or coming up with a new song - it is the greatest feeling. Nothing in this world could be greater.”
